  • Concert day car parking in Truro

    1.        We are indebted to Three Spires Singers for the following information about car parking in the NCP car park (behind the Cathedral):
    Parking:
Shoppers Car Park at the rear of the cathedral is for maximum 3 hour stays, and applies hefty charges if you exceed 3 hours.

For the NCP car park you can set up an online account and pre-book - see ncp.co.uk. It's a fair bit cheaper than the standard rates, and guarantees you a space. We checked with NCP and if you book for the whole day - ie a single booked period to cover the afternoon rehearsal and the evening performance - you can leave and return during that period without incurring an extra charge, so long as you accept that "we would be unable to guarantee that a space would still be available should you choose to do this. We would also be unable to issue a refund for the unused time as you chose to leave the car park", so if you don't mind taking a chance on finding a space again in the evening and don't expect a refund for unused time in the middle, you can make just one booking. Also, the charge for "all day" is the same, £6.95, whether you book just for 3½ hours to cover the afternoon rehearsal or for 10 or 11 hours.

    2.     For evening parking in Cornwall Council's short-term Bridge Street car park, there has been some confusion as to whether the 3-hour limit on parking applies in the evening.  We have received confirmation from the Council that there is no 3 hour limit after 6 pm, and that the rate of £2.10 applies until 23;00. Note that the car park has returned to Pay and Display.

A retiring collection was made at our recent "Nelson Mass" concert to raise money for the DEC Ukraine fund. Thanks to the generosity of the choir, orchestra and audience, a total of £960 was collected, subsequently match-funded by a choir member (who wishes to remain anonymous). A total of £2,141 was sent to the DEC.
